Malcom Banks is a motivated and passionate visionary Filmmaker, continually seeking new challenges
and opportunities. He continues to hone and feed the passion for the arts that began at an early age.
Expanding in knowledge, skill, and vision; His intensity and work ethic places him as a recognized
futurist filmmaker, director, and actor.
Nominated for the best male actor in the Midwest Film Festival, in 2014, Malcom, portrayed a high
school football player forced to confront his personal and visceral prejudices, after discovering the
captain of the team is gay. In 2015, he completed booking his first nationally televised character, “Gerad
Garner,” on NBC’s Chicago PD. Currently, the character portrayal of “Jay” in the highly charged and
discussed film on Netflix titled “Black and Privileged” displays his versatility when depicting stereotypical
perceptions while tackling controversial social-economic topics. He is a focal character in the acclaimed
Independent film called Side Effects currently available on Aspire TV and Amazon Prime. His latest
professional work, written, directed, and primary character portrayal is a conceived dark thriller
revealing America’s perception of justice for all. Through multiple reviews, audiences question the
stigmatization of a man and his destruction, examining complex facets of our emotional realities and
strengths.
He also performed as the crucial cast member, Youngblood, of the acclaimed August Wilson play, Jitney,
presented by Congo Square Theater, directed by Cheryl Lynn Bruce.
